I used to write country songs for my own amusement, hence the Nashvillesque pseudonym. About 10 years ago I composed a ballad for Purim that parallels the megillah reading. I performed this in shul during breaks in the reading as a way to keep the young people engaged. (I still perform it every year.) More recently I composed and performed some song parodies, including "Manischewitzville," for a synagogue fund-raiser. When YouTube came along, video became the obvious way to distribute the songs.
